Local Author And Actor To Discuss Film Production At Summer Creative Writing Institute

David Rice, author of Give the Pig a Chance and Crazy Loco, and actor Valente Rodriguez (UTPA graduate and co-star of The George Lopez Show) will show a promotional segment from their film “Los Scavengers” on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Theatre at UT-PA. The presentation is part of a week-long series of panels and readings by guest authors who are here for the Summer Creative Writing Institute. The film “Los Scavengers” is a "work in progress," currently under negotiation with Warner Brothers studios. Rice and Valente will also discuss the writing, funding, casting, and promotion of film projects in the Rio Grande Valley as well as the unique opportunities offered filmmakers who choose locations here. The presentation will be followed by a reception in the foyer of the Student Union Theatre.
